About the Role 

As a General Ledger Payroll Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the general ledger payroll functions, perform payroll reconciliations, and assist in the month-end close process. You will collaborate with various departments and work closely with the VP, Corporate Controller to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. 

 

Location- We are flexible on remote working from home, if you are located in the USA and reside in one of the following states - CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, *IL, KS, ME, MA, NJ, NC, OR, TX or VA. We have physical offices in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL, if you prefer a hybrid option. 

  

 

What You’ll be Doing 

  •  Payroll Journal Entries (JE): Prepare and record payroll-related journal entries to maintain accurate financial records. 

  • Bonus Calculation and Administration: Manage and process employee bonus payments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to bonus plans. 

  • Benefits Accounting: Own benefits accounting for 401(k), FSA, HSA, disability and others as needed, regularly reviewing, adjusting and auditing to ensure accuracy and compliance. 

  • Commissions: Enter, reconcile and audit employee commissions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to compensation plans. 

  • Vacation/PTO Accrual Tracking: Monitor and record global vacation and Paid Time Off (PTO) accruals, ensuring accurate accounting and reporting. 

  • Reclassification Entries: Execute necessary reclassification entries to correct or adjust payroll-related accounts. 

  • Payroll Reconciliation: Perform regular payroll reconciliations to verify accuracy of payroll records and resolve discrepancies. 

  • Work Cross-Functionally: Work productively with the HR, Payroll and Benefits stakeholders to streamline workflows and best practice processes. 

  • Close: Own payroll related month end, quarter end, year end responsibilities. 

  • Other duties as needed. 

 

About You 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience 

  • 2-5 years of GL Payroll Accounting experience 

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP 

  • CPA preferred but not required 

  • Experience in analyzing large transactional volumes, preparing trend analysis, and resolving variance issues 

  • Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively organize and present information and respond to questions 

  • Independent thinker and problem solver with ability to present solutions 

  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks appropriately, and handle multiple responsibilities at once 

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities 

  • Familiarity with Netsuite preferred. 

  • Advanced excel skills
